Step-By-Step Guide to Bail Bonds
Step 1: Jail / Warrant
You or your loved one finds themself in jail facing a criminal charge or you may have a warrant out for your arrest in Minnesota. A warrant can be issued for various reasons, such as failing to appear in court or failing to comply with conditions of your release.
Step 2: Judge Sets Bail
Within 36 hrs of an arrest (not including Sundays or legal holidays), you will be seen by a judge who will set your bail. If the 36 hr time period passes, you will be released pending charges. If there is a warrant out for your arrest, a judge has likely already set your bail. Otherwise, you have a body only hold, which requires you to see a judge before bail is set.
Step 3: You Call Us
If you don’t know your bail amount, we can get that information for you. We charge 10% of the bail amount which can be paid up front or in increments with a flexible payment plan. You will also need a cosigner. The cosigner should have a valid Minnesota ID and be able to show proof of income.
Step 4: Freedom
After completing paperwork, a Metro Bail Bonds agent will go to the jail to post your bond. You will then be released and can return to your life! Our obligation is to ensure that you appear at each of your scheduled court hearings until your case is resolved.
